Push Notification for Android

I want to understand if Push Notification is possible without firebase. Currently, In my app firebase in like the middleware between client and server. But I want to send the push notification directly from the server. Is this possible?

If you are using Firebase in your app, you can send push notification to the registered devices directly from the Firebase Console, with the Cloud Messaging composer. If you have a backend server application you can also send firebase cloud messages using one of the library available for the programming language of your server app. I have done that in Ruby (with Rails), but firebase libraries exists for many other common languages used server-side.

So if I’m sending from the server side. It also expects a registered device right or in some case token. how do I get that in that case?

Please check the firebase_messaging plugin documentation and its example.
