Google Chrome https redirect opening link is automatically set to ‘ask every time’ but it does not actually ask, it remains in google chrome with a redirect link. If I manually go into the settings and change Open by default - opening link to ‘open in the app’ the redirect works as it is supposed to.
Realistically I would like to automatically set the opening link to ‘open in this app’ by default on install. But if that is not possible, then solve the problem of the ‘ask every time’ dialog box not opening with the redirect.
I expect the ‘ask every time’ opening link to pop up a dialog to allow the user to set the app as the default app to handle that redirect, but the redirect https just sits in google chrome URL box.
I am only able to test on android studio emulators.
I have tried setting the intent-filter in the manifest to (android:autoVerify=“true”).
The redirect works correctly if the settings are changed to open in this app, so I don’t really want to show all the code for that as I hope it isn’t necessary.
I am using the following packages:
This is my manifest Intent Filter
<intent-filter android:autoVerify="true"> <action android:name="android.intent.action.VIEW" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.DEFAULT" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.BROWSABLE" /> <data android:scheme="https" android:host="fleet.carryr.com" pathPrefix="app-redirect.txt"/> <data android:scheme="https" android:host="fleet.carryr.com" pathPrefix="app-logout.txt"/> </intent-filter>
This is a tricky one to explain and this is my first post so I hope this makes some sense.
Thank you in advance.
